At the Chandrabaya Tukoba Naik Higher secondary school in Curchorem, there is a promising engineer in the making who dreams of entering IIT or at least one of Goa’s premier engineering colleges.

Subham Naik’s family did have the means to educate their children, but the sudden death of his father in a road accident, forced them to redraw their plans. A period of uncertainty loomed when his mother was concerned about the future of Subham and his younger sister Saili. Plans for professional higher education had to be kept on the anvil. This is where, Fomento Resources stepped in and offered Subham the Gyan Jyoti Puraskar award, a scholarship that would cover all his educational needs. The scholarship given to him a year ago when he was in standard 11 helps him buy expensive reference books of Maths, Comprehensive physics and examination guides of IIT, CET and the Goa Board.

“The scholarship covers my bus fare from my village to Curchorem and back, as well as my course books”, says an excited Shubham.  When asked which stream of engineering he was aiming for, he said “I hope to do computer engineering”. Irrespective of which course he chooses, Fomento Resources’ and its Ashiyana trust will be at hand to support him.
