Capxem: A road to success

Alliance News 2010-08-11 14:27:35

The road to Capxem jetty, branching from the main highway links important mineral development areas like Dharbandora, Savordem, Ponda and Cuddegal, to this vital river link for onward ore transportation.

This kilometre-long road is the logistical backbone for most companies engaged in mineral development activity. Trucks carrying ore use this road to load ore onto the barges for onward river transportation down the Zuari River and finally to the Mormugao port for ship loading.

In 2007, a group of companies and Fomento Resources strengthened a 150 metre stretch of the road with concrete to facilitate ground handling conditions.

On July 24 2010, the local panchayat requested the group of companies and Fomento Resources to repair and concretize a further 800 metre stretch of the road.

Fomento Resources has decided to take the lead and construct the road on its own. This will not only help companies but the local population as well. Fomento has got down to work and construction activity has commenced in full swing. The road to Capxem is now more vital than ever.
